Places available for monogenic diabetes training course

Healthcare professionals are invited to sign up for a monogenic diabetes training course taking place later this year.

Registration for the event, which is taking place on Wednesday, December 6 and Thursday, December 7, is now open and organisers are encouraging consultants, specialist nurses and specialist registrars to sign up and attend.

The programme will include plenary lectures on major topics delivered by Professor Andrew Hattersley and his team of international experts.

They will be delivering sessions on treating people with maturity-onset diabetes (MODY) and current practices and developments in the management of monogenic diabetes.

Highlights of the programme will include:

·      Managing treatment change in monogenic diabetes

·      Strategies to diagnose monogenic diabetes

·      Complex genetic syndrome with diabetes

·      Neonatal diabetes: genetic causes and effective management

·      MIDD

·      Genetic testing in the future

·      Inherited causes of insulin resistance, including lipodystrophy and insulin receptor mutations

·      HNF1B

·      Recognising and managing the different forms of MODY, including HNF1A, HNF4A and GCK

·      Management of MODY in pregnancy.

People have until December 5, 2023, to register their attendance; however, it is advised to book as soon as possible. Once registered, individuals will receive access links via email the week before the event.
